The Alma College Men's Lacrosse team hosted the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday in their 2013 home opener at Bahlke Field. The day was a success for the Scots as they defeated the Raiders by a score of 22-4 to improve their season record to 2-2.
For most of the day we played how we wanted and stuck to our game plan," said Alma Head Coach Jason Levesque. "We still have some things to clean up and we need to eliminate the mental lapses. Those miscues are costly and we certainly won' be able to afford any tomorrow. I'm pleased with our effort, the boys shared the ball well. Now we've got to regroup for a very strong Concordia squad on Sunday."
The Scots jumped out to a 3-0 lead seven minutes into the first quarter and led 5-2 after one. The home team added four more goals in the second frame and led the Raiders by a margin of 9-2 as the teams headed into halftime.
Alma really took control in the second half as they scored the first seven goals of the third quarter and led MSOE 16-3 after the frame. The Scots outscored the Raiders 6-1 in the final 15 minutes to walk off the field with the 22-4 victory.
In the win, the Scots were led by Fr. MF Marshall Argenta (Stafford, NY/Notre Dame), who had five goals and four assists and Fr. MF Jonathan Lindback (Tavernier, Fla./Coral Shores) had four goals and one helper. Fr. MF Kyle Schnitzer (Aurora, Col./Smoky Hill) added three goals and three assists and So. MF Tyler Bennett (New Lothrop, Mich./New Lothrop) scored three times.
So. GK Daric Mueller (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) played 38 minutes and recorded four saves in picking up the win.
Alma will host Concordia University (Wis.) on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Bahlke Field.
