Men's LAX is defeated by Concordia University (Wis.) 8-2 on Sunday

On a cloudy, misty early March afternoon, the Scots Men's Lacrosse team hosted Concordia University (Wis.) at Bahlke Field and dropped a 8-2 decision to the visiting Falcons. With the loss, Alma swept two games over the weekend and they now stand at 2-3 for the season. CUW improved to 3-2 in 2013 with the win.

"I'm extremely proud of the complete level our young team showed against an experienced and talented team," remarked Scots Head Coach Jason Levesque. "Our youth and inexperience led to a few miscues and turnovers that cost us and we'll continue to learn from them. It's always tough to lose, especially at home, but it wasn't for lack of effort.

"I'm very excited about the progress we've made thus far and look forward to what's in store for Scots lacrosse."

It was a defensive contest throughout as Concordia showed their experience and limited the Scots to few quality scoring chances. The Falcons led 2-0 after one quarter and extended their lead to 6-0 late in the second frame. Alma got on the board with 2:48 remaining in the half when Fr. MF Marshall Argenta (Stafford, NY/Notre Dame) scored unassisted.

The teams played a scoreless and shotless third quarter as the game got even more defensive on both ends of the field. Argenta scored, assisted by Fr. MF Jonathan Lindback (Tavernier, Fla./Coral Shores), with 12:48 left in the game to make it 6-2. However, that is as close as the Scots would come as the Falcons scored the final two goals of the game to secure the 8-2 victory.

So. GK Daric Mueller (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) had 11 saves in the loss for the Scots, who next play on Saturday at Oberlin College (Ohio). The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
