Oberlin, Ohio – The Alma College women's basketball team loss, 59-45, to Oberlin College Saturday (Nov. 10) in the Scots first game of the 2018-2019 season. 

Sophomore forward Emily Eldridge (Battle Creek, Mich. / Battle Creek Lakeview) scored a game-high 19 points and gathered a team-high seven rebounds for Alma. 

Junior guard Madison Hill (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek) tied for a game-high four assists and added seven points for the Scots. 

What Happened

• Eldridge opened the scoring for the Scots when she banked in a three from the top of the key a little over four minutes in. It sparked a 7-0 run by Alma to tie the game. 
• The Scots' defense held the Yeowomen scoreless for 7:21 from late in first carried over into the second quarter. 
• A layup by Eldridge in the final minute of the second made it a one possession game going into halftime. 
• Alma went on a 10-2 run to close out the third quarter. Sophomore forward Charley Hengesbach (Saginaw, Mich. / Nouvel Catholic Central) scored five during the run. 
• The final quarter was the highest scoring one for both teams. Hill made back-to-back three pointers to cut into the Oberlin lead. 

Notables 

• Barnauskas was the team's second leading scorer with nine. She added four rebounds and two assists 
• Sophomore center Jeny Brandt (Escanaba, Mich. / Escanaba) tied with Eldridge for most rebounds with seven. 
• Junior guard Hannah Thelen (Pewamo, Mich / Pewamo-Westphalia) gathered six rebounds, dished out two assists and had a steal. 
• The Scots shot better from beyond the arc than the Yeowomen, going 5-15. 
• Both teams ended up with 13 assists each.
