Freeland, Mich. – Alma College women's basketball junior guard Madison Hill (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek) has been named the MIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. This is Hill's first conference award in her collegiate career.
The junior was a major facet in the Alma offense this week as the Scots went 2-0 with wins over Earlham College and Spring Arbor University. Hill had a game-high 22 points against the Quakers and 11 points and six assists versus the Cougars.
Hill currently ranks 10th in the conference with 12.3 points per game. She also has third most assists among MIAA players with 19. Her shooting from the free throw line has been especially impressive with knocking down more than 80 percent of her shots from the charity stripe. The guard has hit 31 free throws, the most in the conference. All 11 of Hill's points against Spring Arbor came from foul shots.
The guard has also been a workhorse for the Scots this season playing in 216 minutes through six games. The next most minutes played by any other MIAA player currently is 178. She has appeared in at least 33 minutes in every contest this year.
Hill and the Scots look to extend their three-game winning streak when they head to Anderson University (IN) on Tuesday (Nov. 27) for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
