The Scots Women's Lacrosse team entered Tuesday's contest at Davenport University with an unblemished 4-0 record but the undefeated season would come to end this evening in Grand Rapids. Alma could not recover from a slow start and fell to Davenport by a score of 10-8.
The home team jumped out to a 5-0 lead en route to an 8-3 halftime advantage. The young Scots fought hard however, cutting the deficit to 9-7 with a little over nine munutes remaining after a goal by Sr. A Christie Havrilla (Okemos, Mich./Okemos). That would be the closest Alma would get as DU held in for the hard-fought 10-8 win.
So. M Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing, Mich./Waverly) led the Scots with three goals, while Havrilla and Fr. A Ashton Street (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) both had two scores for the visitors in the loss. Jr. GK Stephanie Herman (Bay City, Mich./All-Saints Central) had eight saves in net for the Scots.
Alma will next play against Calvin College next Tuesday afternoon. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. and will be at Davenport's field.
