The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized 86 schools as earning 2013 IWLCA Division III Academic Squad honors for the 2013 season. Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors, including NCAA semifinalist Middlebury College. Thirteen of the teams that participated in the 2013 NCAA Championships were named Academic Squads.
Alma College, led by Head Coach Laurie Jordan, were one of the schools recognized and the only MIAA school to earn the honor. The Scots, in just year two of the program, proved to be good both in the classroom and on the field.
Alma's 2013 team finished with a 15-3 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the MIAA, good for second place in the league. Additionally, the Scots won a playoff game and advanced to the first-ever MIAA Championship before losing to #1 seed Adrian College.
