Scots Women's Lacrosse cruise past Linfield 18-6 on Friday afternoon

Thanks to a huge day by Jr. MF Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing/Waverly), the Alma College Women's Lacrosse team defeated Linfield College 18-6 on the road Friday evening.

With the victory, the Scots improve to 2-2 overall while the Wildcats fall to 0-2 after the loss. 

Gallihugh wasted no time on Friday, scoring three-straight goals to give Alma the 3-0 lead at 18:37. Following a Linfield goal, Fr. A  Stephanie Chou (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) knocked in consecutive goals to stretch the Scots lead to 4-1 early in the first half.

The Scots kept the pressure on the home team, closing out the first half on a 4-1 run to take the commanding 9-3 lead into the locker rooms.

Alma did not let up as the second half began, rattling off six-unanswered goals to extend the advantage 15-3 at 19:07.

The Scots would remain in charge for the duration of the half to knock off the host Wildcats 18-6 on Friday.

Gallihugh led all players with six goals and Chou added five scores for the Scots. Fr. A Emily Zadny (Hartland, WI/Arrowhead) chipped in with three goals and two assists while Jr. MF Sydney Bryce (Lake Orion/Lake Orion) added two goals.

Shelby Duarte led Linfield with three goals in the loss.

In goal, Sr. GK Stephanie Herman (Bay City/All-Saints Central) and Fr. GK Miranda Kruse (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor Pioneer) both played 30 minutes with each giving up three goals. 

Alma dominated on Friday,  forcing 32 turnovers while only committing 16. The Scots also held the advantage in shots (40-11), draw controls (16-10) and ground balls (44-35).

After going .500 (2-2) in Oregon to start the season, Alma returns home to take on Wilmington College (OH) on Thursday, March 6, at 2:00 p.m.
