Alma College Women's Lacrosse Jr. MF Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing/Waverly) has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of The Week as announced by the league on Monday morning.
"I am very proud of Tracy for receiving this weeks defensive award," said Alma Head Coach Laurie Jordan. "She is one of our leaders on and off the field. Tracy is a well-rounded player throughout the midfield and she is not only a major part of our attack, but also a major part of keeping our goals against at a lower number. She deserves this and I know she will continue to give me her all every day out on that field."
Gallihugh helped the Scots to a 1-1 record last week, including a 12-8 victory at home against Kalamazoo College on Saturday.
In the Scots 15-4 loss at Adrian on April 2nd, she led Alma with two goals and an assist, while scooping one groundball.
On April 5th, Gallihugh recorded three goals and collected a team-high four groundballs in the Scots 12-8 victory against Kalamazoo at home.
On the year, the junior leads the team with 36 goals and 33 groundballs, and is tied for the team lead with 40 points. She also ranks amongst the MIAA leaders in goals per game, points per game and game-winning goals.
This is the first Defensive Player of The Week honor for Gallihugh this season and the second of her career. She joins Fr. D Ali Holmquist (Canton/Plymouth) and Sr. GK Stephanie Herman (Bay City/All-Saints Central) as Scots to receive DPTW accolades from the conference this season.
