Women's Golf team concludes Defiance Invite

Defiance, Ohio - The Alma College women's golf team concluded the two-day Defiance Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 8) from the White Pines Golf Course. The Scots finished with an overall team score of 666. The score was good enough to place seventh overall. Grace College was the winner of the tournament with an overall score of 613.

Individually the Scots were led by freshman Morgan Yates (Shepherd, Mich. Shepherd). Yates had a combined two-day score of 160, finishing in a tie for 11th place. Also having a successful tournament for the Scots was sophomore Ava Gardiner (Sterling Heights, Mich. Sterling Heights Stevenson). Gardiner finished with an overall score of 162 and finished tied for 17th. Junior Kirstyn Cotton (Midland, Mich. / Midland) finished in 29th overall with a score of 171.

Up next for the Scots is the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree of the year. The event will begin at 1:00 pm from Pine River Country Club in Alma on Saturday (Sept. 14).
