Women's Tennis Cruises to Second Straight Victory Against Guilford

Greensboro, NC – Alma College Tennis continued there Spring break trip on Tuesday with a matchup against Guilford. The Scots men were defeated 9-0, while the women picked up their second straight win, 7-2.

The Scots jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in doubles play. The team of Elizabeth Hill and Amanda Szymborski scored an 8-0 win at #1 Doubles. Holly Hall and Kayla Weller scraped out a narrow win 9-7 at #2 Doubles. Finally, Bronwyn McAlindon and Summer Stoldt were awarded a win by forfeit at #3 Doubles.

Moving into singles play, Alma needed just two victories to secure the match win. The Scots wound up with four victories. Szymborski scored a win at #2 Singles, defeating Ashley Belnap 6-1, 7-6 (7-2). Stoldt battled through a tough first game, before cruising to an easy win in game two. She defeated Nya Reed at #4 Singles 7-5, 6-0. McAlindon grabbed yet another win for Alma over Yasmine Elabdellaoui 6-0. Finally, Hall was awarded victory at #6 Singles by forfeit.

The win gives great momentum to the Scots to take back to Michigan. Alma will next be in action when they take on Kalamazoo to open MIAA play.
